The Great Serengeti

"No one can return from the Serengeti unchanged, for tawny lions will forever prowl our memory and great herds throng our imagination.” - George Schaller. The endless plains of the Serengeti are one of the last accessible wild places on earth. Exploring the birthplace of mankind is nothing less than a spiritual experience. It is certainly hard to come back unchanged.

Day 3: November 17th

The Great Serengeti

Overnight: Serengeti explorer

Venue: Nyabora hills

We spend the next few days exploring the endless plains of the Serengeti. On this day, witness one of the most spectacular sights with tens of thousands of wildebeest and zebra as they make their way over the Mara river, dodging predators.

Yes, the safari is nothing less than a spiritual experience but it is the evening here that is consistently rated one of the best parts of the trip: Bonding with your fellow travelers around a campfire, under open starry, night sky listening to the sounds of the Serengeti. There is no other feeling in the world that parallels this.

Sessions:

  1. Neurology Of Pain (Adell Bridges): Pain sucks, and nobody wants to deal with pain. But what if we could understand what is happening at a neurological level when we experience pain? More importantly, what if we could take this information and use it to decrease--or even get out of--pain? When we know more about what pain is and why we experience it, we have tools to be in control of that pain rather than the other way around. In this workshop, you'll learn not only about what pain is but easy, practical tools you can use and share with others to help with acute and chronic pain!
  2. Cutting Edge Insights and practices aimed at promoting longevity and vitality

With most things included you should not need much cash. For souvenirs, drinks and tips for local guides you will need no more than $500 - $700 USD

Once you book we will share a detailed package of everything you should bring on the trip. However, here are some things to consider:

  1. Visa.  For nationals of most countries, this can be obtained upon arrival for $50 USD ($100 for American citizens). So please arrive with the exact amount. You may also choose to get your visa in advance. This can be obtained on the Tanzania immigration website here. There are certain countries that do not require visas. The list of countries is found here. There is a small list of countries that require referral visas. These individuals cannot obtain visas on arrival. Here is a list of countries that require referral visas.
  2. Vaccines and medications.  The CDC website is a great resource for this. Please also consult with your family doctor or a tropical medicine clinic at least a month before the trip! Yellow fever vaccines is required ONLY IF you are coming from a country with risk of yellow fever transmission. See if your country is on the list here. This also includes layover of more than 12 hours.

You may cancel up to 90 days before the trip for a full refund (less transaction charges).

The base trip starts and ends in Arusha (November 5th to November 11th). The closest airport to here is Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA). If you purchase the Zanzibar add-on, we recommend purchasing flight into Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) and out of Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) on November 15. Other nearby airports to consider would be Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) and Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR). We will help co-ordinate local travel to/from these destinations.

Please note that if you choose to land in Kenya, a Yellow fever vaccine would be required to enter Tanzania from the Kenyan border by land.

You may arrive a night or two early if you would like to explore the area and do a day hike to Kilimanjaro on November 14th.
